Whitewater's Harms Earns All-Conference Honors for UW-Whitewater Cross Country

Brett Harms, a native of Whitewater, Wis., and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's cross country team, earned first team all-conference honors by virtue of his third-place finish Saturday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champoinships at Wisconsin River Golf Club in Stevens Point.

Harms, a junior at UW-Whitewater, placed third overall out of 87 runners with a personal record time of 24:31.0 to help the Warhawks finish eighth at the conference meet.

Harms' third-place finish was the highest at the WIAC Championships by a UW-Whitewater men's runner since 2007, when Brian Butzler also placed third.

Last season, he garnered second team All-WIAC accolades after placing eighth at the conference meet.

Harms looks to qualify for the NCAA Championships for the second straight year at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on Nov. 12 at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wis.

Harms is majoring in marketing at UW-Whitewater.
