Waukesha's Schueler Recognized for Academics for UW-Whitewater Women's Soccer

2017 Dec 8

Adria Schueler, a native of Waukesha, WI, graduate of Mukwonago High School and junior defender on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches for her performance on and off the field during the 2017 season.

Payton DeLuga (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) was selected to the USC's NCAA Division III Women's Scholar All-America second team, tying highest recognition ever received by the program (Carina Krausert, 2016). She was also chosen first team All-North/Central Region.

Adria Schueler (Wales, Wis./Mukwonago) joined DeLuga on the All-North/Central Region Team, tallying third team recognition.

Both players helped the Warhawks reach the NCAA Tournament for the seventh consecutive season and finish with a 14-4-4 record, including a 4-2-1 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

DeLuga garnered first team accolades after carrying a 3.82 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. She is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

DeLuga started all 22 matches in UW-Whitewater's central defense, helping the team allow only 16 goals, tied for the second-fewest in one season in program history. She added one goal and one assist for three points and played the most minutes (1,881) on the team.

Last month, DeLuga was tabbed third team All-America by the USC after earning first team All-WIAC for the second straight season.

Schueler collected third team honors with a 3.82 cumulative GPA majoring in accounting.

A first team all-conference selection, Schueler posted one goal and two assists for four points as a cog in the defensive midfield. She started all 22 games and ranked fourth on the team in minutes played.
