UW-Whitewater's Woodson Selected WIAC Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Jenna Woodson, a Menomonee Falls, WI, native and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, has been selected the recipient of the 2015 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Judy Kruckman Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is sponsored by Badgerland Financial.

A senior from Menomonee Falls, Wis., Woodson is majoring in international business/general management with a minor in Spanish. A year ago, she was selected to the Academic All-America(R) Women's Soccer Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is a two-time Academic All-District(R) selection and was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women's College Division Scholar All-North/Central Region Third Team in 2014. Woodson is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and been recognized on UW-Whitewater's Dean's List numerous semesters.

A two-year team captain, Woodson is a three-time All-WIAC first team selection and secured the conference's Offensive Player of the Year honor in 2013. She was named to NSCAA All-America Third Team in 2013 and is a two-time All-North Region pick. Woodson is the program's all-time leader in career assists. She has helped the Warhawks earn a spot in the NCAA Division III championship four consecutive years and win three WIAC regular-season titles and three tournament crowns.

Woodson is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society, Phi Kappa Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. She is the Vice President of TOMS Campus Club, Fundraising Coordinator for the International Business Club, and a Veteran Warhawk in the Warhawk Leadership Academy. Woodson volunteers for Reading with the Warhawks and participated in a Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics.

Also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award were: UW-La Crosse's Heather Willems (Sr., Green Bay, Wis./Preble); UW-Oshkosh's Ashley Siewert (Sr., Waukesha, Wis./West); and UW-Stout's Jenna Kizlik (Sr., Hammond, Wis./River Falls).

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Judy Kruckman who served as Assistant Commissioner for the WIAC from 1996-98. Prior to this appointment, she was Commissioner of the Wisconsin Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WWIAC) from October, 1984 - September, 1996. Kruckman was the women's athletics director at UW-Eau Claire from 1974-84, and one of the original representatives to the WWIAC when it formed in 1971.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.50 grade point average. In addition, she must be in her last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
