UW-Whitewater's VanDuyn Tabbed Bowling All-American by NTCA

2016 Apr 14

Amanda VanDuyn, a native of Kenosha, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team, was named an All-American by the National Tenpin Coaches Association Wednesday night at the NCAA's Awards Banquet in New Brunswick, N.J., the site of this weekend's NCAA Championship.

Junior Amanda VanDuyn (Kenosha, Wis./Kenosha Bradford) was named DII/DIII Player of the Year and Third Team All-American, while senior Lindsay Rusch (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) added Honorable Mention All-America honors for the Warhawks.

This is the second All-America honor for VanDuyn who earned honorable mention in 2014 to go along with DII/DIII Rookie of the Year honors. With Rusch's first nod, the pair becomes the ninth and tenth awardees in the history of the program.

VanDuyn led the Warhawks in a variety of categories this season. She competed in every frame possible for UW-W and averaged over 200 in eight of nine events. She was chosen as the UW-W Walmart Bowler of the Week five out of ten times, and earned all-tournament honors at the UCM Invitational. Her high game of the season was a 279 at the Warhawk Classic on February 20.

Rusch, one of three seniors on this year's team, went out with a bang. To go along with her Honorable Mention All-America honors, she was named UW-W Walmart Bowler of the Week twice and earned all-tournament honors at the Big Red Invite and the Crusader Classic. Rusch rolled a 277 for her season high game on January 16 at the Mid Winter Classic.

The team will compete in their final event of the season when they travel to Wichita, Kansas for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships from April 21-23 at Northrock Lanes.

VanDuyn is majoring in communication at UW-Whitewater.
