UW-Whitewater's Strupp Earns All-America Honors in Track and Field

Amanda Strupp, a native of Slinger, Wis., and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program, was one of six Warhawks to garner All-America accolades over the weekend at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.

The Warhawk men placed fifth at the national meet with 25 points for the program's third top-five finish at its last four outdoor championships. The women finished tied for 39th with seven points.

MEN

On Thursday, sophomore Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) garnered the fourth All-America accolade of his career, finishing as national runner-up in the discus with a personal record distance of 175-03 (53.41 meters), only five inches shy of the championship throw.

On Friday, Baumann earned the fifth All-America medal of his career with a fourth-place finish in the shot put. He posted a mark of 56-01.25 (17.10 meters) to record his fourth national top-eight finish.

MaGee registered a 6-08.25 (2.04 meters) in the high jump, good for an eighth place finish and his first trip to the All-America podium.

Sophomore Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) garnered the third and fourth All-America honors of his career to lead UW-Whitewater on Saturday. He finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.97 seconds, and was eighth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 24.20 seconds.

Competing in the hammer throw for the second straight outdoor season, senior Zach Stockheimer (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) wrapped up his career with a fourth-place finish in the event. He registered a toss of 191-04 (58.33 meters).

WOMEN

Juniors Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) and Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) each earned a spot on the All-America podium in the discus, placing fourth and seventh, respectively. Stringer, now a two-time All-American in the event, posted a result of 159-02 (48.52 meters). Strupp collected her second career All-America medal with a 147-09 (45.03 meters), moving up eight spots from her original seeding.

Strupp is majoring in psychology at UW-Whitewater.
