UW-Whitewater's Stringer Earns All-Region Honors in Track and Field

Genny Rose Stringer, a native of Assumption, IL, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program, was one of eight Warhawks to garner NCAA Division III Outdoor All-Midwest Region accolades from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Seniors Mike Judd (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence), Zach Stockheimer (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), sophomores Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove), Cameron MaGee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca), Robert Starnes (Green Bay, Wis./Preble), Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./North) and freshman Tanner Stephens (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa) earned All-Region honors on the men's side.

Junior Genny Rose Stringer (Assumption, Ill./Assumption) was tabbed All-Region on the women's side.

To be named All-Region, student-athletes must either be ranked among the top five of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top three relay team.

Baumann, Starnes and Witt each posted All-Region results in two events. Baumann hit top five marks in the shot put and discus throw, Starnes posted honors in the long jump and high jump and Witt recorded top five times in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Judd was recognized in the 110-meter hurdles, and MaGee registered an All-Region result in the high jump. Stephens tallied an All-Region mark in the triple jump, and Stockheimer finished among the region's top five in the hammer throw.

Stringer garnered all-region status in the discus throw.

Judd, Stockheimer, Baumann, MaGee, Witt and Stringer will all compete this week at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Competition begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.

The USTFCCCA also published its final rankings prior to the national meet. The Warhawk men were slotted sixth in the poll with a total of 88.89 points.

Stringer is majoring in social work at UW-Whitewater.
