UW-Whitewater's McNeil Tabbed All-Academic in Track and Field by USTFCCCA

Kyle McNeil, a native of Geneva, IL, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program, was one of 14 Warhawks acknowledged by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the organization's 2016 NCAA Division III All-Academic Honors.

Senior Tyler Henderson (Madison, Wis./Verona), juniors Meredith Heller (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall), Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac), Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger), sophomores Morgan McCuen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin), Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) and freshman Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) were each selected as All-Academic individuals on the women's side. Henderson is now a three-time honoree, while Richter has now earned the accolade twice.

Seniors Josh Davison (Waterloo, Wis./Waterloo), Mike Judd (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence), junior Kyle McNeil (Geneva, Wis./Geneva Community), sophomores Cameron MaGee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca), Josh Selje (Rio, Wis./Rio), freshmen Connor Arneson (Oshkosh, Wis./West) and Trent Rudebeck (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) represented the men as All-Academic individuals. Judd and MaGee are now two-time selections.

McNeil is majoring in psychology at UW-Whitewater.

To qualify for All-Academic accolades, student-athletes must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and must have either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.

McCuen, Heller and Richter were each members of the Warhawks' indoor 4x400-meter relay team, which placed 19th in NCAA Division III. Heller was also 12th in the 400-meter hurdles, competing in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Sternard ranked 28th in the nation in the indoor high jump, while Henderson was 26th in the outdoor triple jump and 29th in the indoor triple jump.

Strupp tallied the No. 6 toss in the weight throw, the 15th-best discus throw and the No. 22 hammer throw, collecting All-America medals in her top two events and qualifying nationally in all three. Madda finished 27th in the 200-meter dash and 30th in the 100-meter dash during the outdoor campaign.

On the men's side, Arneson and Rudebeck were each a part of UW-Whitewater's 4x400-meter relay teams, which finished 25th on the NCAA's list each season.

McNeil ranked 35th in the nation in the indoor shot put, and Selje was 24th in the indoor heptathlon and 33rd in the outdoor decathlon. Judd held the No. 8 time in the 110-meter hurdles to earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and Davison was 27th in the outdoor discus throw.

MaGee held the No. 14 mark in the indoor high jump and the No. 7 mark in the outdoor high jump to earn his All-Academic status. He competed at the NCAA Championships each season, earning All-America accolades at the outdoor meet.

A total of 423 women from 129 schools were selected All-Academic. On the men's side, 293 student-athletes from 106 institutions made the list.
