UW-Whitewater's Krausert Named All-Region in Women's Soccer

2015 Dec 3

Carina Krausert, a native of Delafield, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, was one of three members of the team selected All-North Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Junior forward Brianna Reid (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) earned first team honors, while junior defender Carina Krausert (Delafield, Wis./Catholic Memorial) garnered second team accolades. Junior midfielder Carly Pottle (St. Charles, Ill./East) was tabbed third team.

Reid was named second team all-region in both 2013 and 2014. Krausert and Pottle are first time all-region selections.

All three student-athletes helped the Warhawks reach the NCAA Division III Tournament national quarterfinals for the first time in program history. UW-Whitewater finished the season with a 20-5 record, good for the most wins in one season in program history, and won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship.

Reid led the UW-Whitewater offense with 20 goals, good for first in the conference and 19th in the nation, and added four assists for a league-best 44 points. She currently leads NCAA Division III with 10 game-winning goals, including an overtime tally to give the Warhawks a 1-0 overtime triumph against Carroll in the first round of the NCAAs.

A three-time first team All-WIAC honoree, Reid was tabbed WIAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Krausert bolstered UW-Whitewater's defense, which allowed under one goal per match, and tied for second on the team with six assists. She was tabbed first team all-conference in her first year as a defender.

Pottle finished the 2015 campaign with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points. She ranked second in the conference in both goals and points.

A first team All-WIAC pick for the second straight year, Pottle registered two game-winning goals during the season and assisted on both of the team's goals in a 2-0 triumph over Wheaton (Ill.) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Krausert is majoring in chemistry at UW-Whitewater.
