UW-Whitewater's Kahl Named All-Academic Individual

Amy Kahl, a native of Huntley, IL, senior member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater cross country program, garnered All-Academic Individual accolades from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Senior Kent Miehe (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) of the men's team and seniors Amy Kahl (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) and Emily Kahl (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) of the women's team were selected as All-Academic Individuals.

In addition, the 2015 Warhawk men's and women's track and field teams were named All-Academic Teams for the fourth and 11th consecutive seasons, respectively.

The Warhawk men tallied a team cumulative grade point average of 3.214 on a 4.0 scale and were one of 151 men's teams to earn All-Academic distinction.

The UW-Whitewater women finished the fall 2015 semester with a 3.342 cumulative GPA and were one of 207 women's teams honored.

To be recognized with the award, teams must have recorded a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 and must have competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners competing in each meet.

To garner All-Academic Individual accolades, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and must have finished among the top 25 percent of runners at an NCAA regional championship meet.

Miehe, a three-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll member, placed 55th out of 260 competitors at the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship on Nov. 14. His time of 25:38.1 was his second best of the season. Miehe is majoring in mathematics.

Amy Kahl led the Warhawks at both the WIAC Championship and the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship. She finished 33rd out of 271 runners at the regional race with a result of 22:19.5, less than two seconds slower than her career best time. Kahl is majoring in physical education and is a three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member.

Emily Kahl, a Spanish major and three-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member, ran a career-best time of 22:46.9 at the regional championship, good for 53rd place. She also finished second on the team at the WIAC Championship, finishing 24th overall.
