UW-Whitewater's Denny Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Wrestling Championship

Zac Denny, a native of Machesney Park, IL, and junior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team, placed fourth to garner All-America accolades in the 125-pound weight class at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Denny, who finished his season at 20-11, clinched his All-America status Friday night with a 6-3 decision over second-seeded Bobby Jordan of Johnson & Wales.
Denny downed two more seeded opponents Saturday to reach the third-place match. He bested No. 6 James Kaishian of Ithaca with a first-period pin at the 2:15 mark. Denny advanced to the consolation semifinals, where he knocked off No. 4 Arnulfo Olea of Wartburg by an 8-5 decision.
Denny was edged 3-2 in the third-place match by Washington & Jefferson's Jacob Spearman.
After a 9-6 setback against top-seeded Lucas Malmberg of Messiah in his first match of the tournament, Denny defeated four straight seeded opponents en route to his fourth-place finish.
Denny is a graduate of Harlem High School and is majoring in Media Arts & Game Dev.
