UW-Whitewater's Becker Qualifies for NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships

Sierra Becker, a native of River Falls, Wis., and senior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's swimming and diving team, secured her spot in the national championship meet Saturday after placing second in the 1-meter dive at the NCAA Central Diving Regional at Denison University in Granville, Ohio

One day after placing eighth on the 3-meter board, Becker, a graduate of River Falls High School, punched her ticket to next month's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a score of 432.60 on the 1-meter board. She is one of seven to qualify from the 28-diver region.

Becker is a three-time All-American on the 1-meter board. Last week, she earned the second Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Meet award of her career after sweeping the 1- and 3-meter diving events at the conference championship meet.

In 2015, Becker finished sixth on the 1-meter board and 17th on the 3-meter board at the NCAA Championships.

This year's national meet is scheduled for March 16-19 in Greensboro, N.C.

Becker is majoring in communication and social work.
