UW-Whitewater's Becker Earns All-America Honors in NCAA Diving

2016 Apr 1

Sierra Becker, a native of River Falls, Wis., and senior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's swimming and diving team, became the first four-year All-American in program history on March 17 after placing 10th in the 1-meter dive at the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

Becker tallied a score of 405.55 in the preliminaries to clinch honorable mention All-America accolades and reach the consolation final, where she registered a mark of 427.05.

With her 10th-place finish, Becker totaled seven team points to place the Warhawks in a tie for 48th.

Becker closed out a fantastic career on March 19 with an 18th-place finish in the 3-meter dive. She totaled a score of 383.55 Saturday, just 10 points shy of qualifying for the consolation finals and All-America status. A two-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Meet, Becker finishes her career as a five-time conference champion and four-time All-American. She holds all four of the program's diving records and has been named Scholar All-America by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America three times.

Becker swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events at the WIAC Championships in February, helping the UW-Whitewater women finish third at the meet. She posted a WIAC Championship record of 460.70 in the 1-meter final after collecting a school record 465.55 points in the preliminary.

Becker is majoring in communication and social work at UW-Whitewater.
