2017 Apr 6

Thomas Zoerner from Pleasant Prairie, Wis., who is majoring in marketing, contributed to an outstanding performance by the UW-Whitewater American Marketing Association at the AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 16 through 18.

Zoerner won third-place in the ABC Supply Sales Competition.

The chapter excelled in several other team and individual events, including the prestigious International Chapter of the Year category. UW-Whitewater and co-champion Aurora University were awarded this top honor based on the chapters' activities over the past academic year. UW-Whitewater AMA has earned this achievement 13 times, including eight of the last nine years.

Department of Marketing Chair and AMA Adviser Jimmy Peltier described the chapter's premier position in the collegiate circle, saying, "I have been on the AMA leadership council in some form for the past 15 years. I can say without hesitation that we are seen as the best chapter in the world. The fact that we remain on top is a testament to our students, our college and the university."

The American Marketing Association is an international society with 370 collegiate chapters and 11,000 student members interested in the practice, study and teaching of marketing.
