Tanya Scherer recipient of UW-Whitewater Nontraditional Student Award

Tanya Scherer, a senior social work major from Whitewater, Wis. , has won a 2015 Nontraditional Student Award at UW-Whitewater.

Judges chose the winners based on suggestions from faculty and staff, who nominated students who are succeeding academically and serving as role models for the campus community.

To be eligible for the honor, nontraditional students must be seeking an undergraduate degree and be 25 years or older, a parent, a student with work or family duties or a U.S. Armed Forces veteran.

Students received their awards on Wednesday, Nov. 4, on the Fern Young Terrace in Young Auditorium at the Greenhill Center for the Arts.
