Stephanie Ruch named UW-Whitewater resident assistant

2014 Oct 24

Stephanie Ruch, a senior theatre major from Loves Park, Ill., has been named a resident assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the 2014-15 academic year.

The purpose of the UW-Whitewater resident assistants is to generate a community in the residence halls, help new students adjust to campus, and create a sense of unity among all residents.

"They are the face of residence life on campus," said Christina Aichele, assistant director of learning communities, leadership and inclusion. "The skills the resident assistants obtain from working with others follow them throughout their college career and afterwards."

To hold the position, applicants must have a strong academic record and complete several interviews with their peers and faculty members. Although the process seems difficult, the premier leadership experience available is priceless.

"From learning to help others to confronting difficult situations, these students are providing an irreplaceable service to the UW-Whitewater campus," Aichele said. "The resident assistants will continue to utilize their resources effectively and provide a positive experience to students in the residence halls."
