Spring Grove's Kaska Part of WIAC Championship, NCAA Tournament Bid at UW-Whitewater

Michael Kaska, a native of Spring Grove, IL, and graduate of Richmond-Burton Community High School, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team, which won its fifth Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in program history to clinch the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship, which begins this week with the Midwest Regional at Miller Stadium in Whitewater.

The Warhawks (35-7 overall), the No. 1 seed in the region, will face eighth-seeded St. Norbert on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. to open play in the eight-team, double-elimination regional tournament.

Other participants in this week's regional include No. 2 seed Concordia Chicago, No. 3 Adrian (Mich.), No. 4 St. Scholastica (Minn.), No. 5 UW-La Crosse, No. 6 St. Thomas (Minn.) and No. 7 Macalester (Minn.).



UW-Whitewater clinched its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance and 21st overall after winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title for the fifth time in program history to earn the league's automatic NCAA bid.



The Warhawks finished 17-3 in conference play to clinch the WIAC regular season championship for the 17th time in program history.

Kaska, a sophomore at UW-Whitewater, is majoring in finance.
