John Gottwald, a Chemistry major and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team, was one of three players selected to the 2014 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-North Region teams, the NSCAA announced Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Senior defender Ryan Reid (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) earned second team accolades, while senior midfielder John Gottwald (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) and senior goalkeeper Josh Rohde (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) garnered third team honors.

The trio helped lead the Warhawks to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the program's fourth appearance in the national tournament in the last six years. UW-Whitewater finished the 2014 season with a 14-5-4 record, tied for the third most wins in one season in program history.

Reid ranked among the top 10 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in points (18), goals (9) and game-winning goals (3). He provided game-winning tallies at Augustana (Sept. 26), against UW-Superior (Nov. 5) and in the team's 3-1 triumph over Carroll in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, when he scored twice.

A three-time All-WIAC honoree, Reid earned second team All-WIAC and was named WIAC Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2014.

Gottwald was named WIAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in assists (11), and ranking second in points (25) and sixth in goals (7). He posted three game-winning goals in 2014 and finished tied for seventh in program history with 16 career assists.

A two-time All-WIAC honoree, Gottwald was selected as the WIAC men's soccer Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete after carrying a 3.65 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. He was also picked to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Rohde started 17 matches and finished 11-3-3 with a league-best 6.2 shutouts. He also finished among WIAC leaders in goals against average (0.95), save percentage (.815), saves (66) and saves per match (3.47). Rohde garnered second team All-WIAC accolades.

UW-Whitewater's three selections to the all-region team were a conference high.
