Solon's Fiorilli Earns All-America Honors for UW-Whitewater Gymnastics

Katie Fiorilli, a native of Solon, OH, graduate of Solon High School and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team, was one of seven Warhawks to combine for 14 All-America honors and earned the top two individual awards Saturday at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Individual Finals at UW-Stout.

Sophomore Lisa O'Donnell (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) claimed her second national championship of the weekend by winning the vault, while senior Katie Fiorilli (Solon, OH/Solon) was named NCGA Senior Athlete of the Year after earning the 12th All-America honor of her career to lead the Warhawks, who won their fourth NCGA team national title Friday night.

Head coach Jennifer Regan was named the NCGA National Coach of the Year for the third time in her career.

O'Donnell completed a fantastic weekend with four more All-America finishes Saturday to bring her career total to seven. She won the vault with a UW-Whitewater top 25 all time score and career high of 9.725. O'Donnell finished as national runner-up on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.750, good for a top 25 result in the program record book. She added first team All-America accolades in the floor exercise (9.700, 5th) and on the balance beam (9.475, T-5th).

Fiorilli joined O'Donnell as a first team All-America on vault after tying for third with a 9.650 to match former Warhawk Katie Thompson for the most All-America honors in program history (12). Fiorilli, a four-year All-American in both the all-around and vault, is the program's third-ever Outstanding Senior (Thompson in 2013, Cici Talcott in 2015).

Senior Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) finished her decorated career with 11 All-America medals after finishing as the national runner-up in the floor exercise with a 9.800, good for a top 10 score in program history, and placing 12th on beam with a 9.275.

McKenzie Foster (Manitou Beach, MI/Addison) concluded her career with four All-America awards after tying for fifth on the balance beam with a 9.475 and finishing 11th on the bars with a 9.500.

Senior Mackenzie Smith (Milwaukee, Wis./Martin Luther) and junior Kate Mierow (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) joined O'Donnell and Foster as All-Americans on the bars. Smith placed fourth with a 9.650, while Mierow tied for seventh with a 9.575. Smith concludes her career with two All-America honors in the event after earning a share of the national title in 2016.

Junior Chloe Rehberg (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) rounded out UW-Whitewater All-America performances with a 9.550 on the vault, good for a tie for 10th place.

Fiorilli, Pickett and fellow senior Kelsea Fischer (Grandville, MI/Grandville) were named All-Americans in Academics by the NCGA. Winners of the award must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the team's NCGA squad list, must be of senior academic standing and must be in their final year of athletic eligibility.
