Slinger's McGuire to Compete at NCAA Individual Championships for UW-Whitewater Women's Tennis

2018 May 21

Bridgid McGuire, a native of Slinger, WI, graduate of Slinger High School and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team, was selected to compete in the 2018 NCAA Division III Championship as an individual and compete this Thursday-Saturday, May 24-26, at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.

Bridgid McGuire (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) and Jillian Wallace (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) were one of 16 doubles pairs selected to compete in the doubles draw, while Gabi Kitchell (Wausau, Wis/D.C. Everest) was one of 32 players chosen to compete in the singles tournament.

McGuire will make her third straight doubles appearance after reaching the quarterfinals last season and the first round in 2016 with former partner Megan Humphreys.

McGuire and Wallace clinched All-America honors in the fall after winning the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional and placing seventh in the Division III doubles draw at the ITA Oracle Cup. Ranked No. 1 in the Central Region by the ITA, the duo enters this week's NCAA Team Tournament with a 34-4 record and has won 20 consecutive matches.

McGuire is the program's first-ever four-year All-American in doubles, while Wallace is a two-year All-American.

Kitchell will make her second appearance in the singles tournament after reaching the first round as a freshman in 2016. She enters the week with a 13-3 record after rejoining the team at the start of the spring semester and is ranked sixth in the Central Region by the ITA.

All three players helped the Warhawks reach the third round of the NCAA Team Tournament earlier this month.
