Samuel White makes UW-Whitewater 2015-16 men's wheelchair basketball team

Samuel White, a senior information technology major from Upper Sturt, Australia, has made the 2015-16 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's wheelchair basketball team.

The Warhawks are the reigning national champions, and will work to continue that success this season.

UW-Whitewater's home tournament is Nov. 20-21 at the Williams Center, with several teams from around the nation coming to compete. The event website is located here: http://www.uww.edu/recsports/wcathletics/

"We run our wheelchair basketball program like it is one big family," said Coach Jeremy "Opie" Lade. "The focus is on skill development for being a better athlete, but we also do plenty of activities outside of basketball that increase players' overall experience on campus," said Lade.

Not only are Warhawk athletes determined on the court, but they are also heavily involved in fundraisers and community outreach. Players can be found volunteering at Fairhaven Senior Services and providing disability awareness at area schools and clubs.
