Samantha Leibham makes UW-Whitewater's golf team

2013 Oct 4

Samantha Leibham, a sophomore occupational safety major from Sheboygan, Wis., has made the 2013 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team.

The Warhawks finish their 2013 season in the WIAC championship tournament Oct. 4-6 at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course in Nekoosa.

"We're building on the positives of the season," said Brett Weber, head coach. "For being such an individualistic sport, each player has put so much belief and confidence into the team as a whole that performance has naturally increased to a far greater level."

When the players are not on the field, they are giving back to the community. The team participates in Reading with the Warhawks, a program where athletes read to elementary school children. Several of the players are also involved in the UW-Whitewater chapter of Circle K, the world's largest collegiate service organization.

"After last season, the women came out with so much more focus," said Weber. "They push each other to be better every day, showing their mutual connection that is running far deeper than ever before."
