2015 Mar 17

Lexie Sondgeroth, a senior on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's track and field team, claimed the national title in the long jump finished as an All-American in two other events at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.

With a mark of 18-10.00, Sondgeroth became the program's second-ever national champion in the indoor long jump and first indoor NCAA title winner since Jessica Kohlman in the weight throw in 2001.

Sondgeroth, who also clinched her fourth All-America honor in the indoor long jump, picked up the school's fifth-ever indoor individual national championship. She entered competition as the No. 4 seed in the event.

On Saturday, Sondgeroth capped her fantastic weekend with third place in the 400-meter dash and seventh in the 200-meter dash.

In the 400, Sondgeroth broke an 11-year-old school record with a time of 57.27 seconds, shattering the previous best of 57.55 by Katelyn Friedel in 2004. Sondgeroth, who entered the weekend eighth in the event, became the first indoor All-American in the 400 in program history.

Sondgeroth tallied a 25.46 in the 200 to earn her second straight All-America accolade in the event and 13th of her career. She is the only indoor All-American in the 200 in program history. Sondgeroth entered the meet with the nation's No. 15 time.

Sondgeroth helped the Warhawks place sixth at the championships for the program's second-best finish at the indoor national meet in school history. The Warhawks placed fifth in both 1993 and 2014.

Sondgeroth is majoring in physical education.
