Robert Emmett Named to UW-Whitewater Residence Hall Association Executive Board

2012 Sep 14

Robert Emmett, a sophomore from Hales Corners, WI, has been elected to the executive board of the 2012-13 Residence Hall Association, which oversees 13 residence halls on campus and two apartment buildings that house students. Emmett is majoring in entrepreneurship.

"The seven students that have been elected to these positions are really the cream of the crop," said Terry Tumbarello, associate director of residence life. "UW-Whitewater has more than 4,300 students living on campus. These seven officials have been selected from that group not only for their grades and ability, but for their exceptional leadership skills."

The Residence Hall Association's mission is to bring "leadership and programs to foster community and to provide social, cultural, and intellectual development." The board also reviews and enforces housing policies.

In addition to governing the residence halls, the association plans events like "Little Sibs" and "Whitewater Idol" for students living on campus.

"The skills that these students will take away from this experience are invaluable," said Tumbarello. "A position like this will really help them get ahead of the game in the job world."
