Richland Center's Magee Earns All-Region Track and Field Honors at UW-Whitewater

2017 Mar 8

Cameron Magee, a native of Richland Center, Wis., and graduate of Ithaca School, was one of 14 members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's track and field teams to earn United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Midwest Region awards based on their performances during the 2017 indoor season.

Seven men combined to earn All-Region honors in eight events. Junior Parker Witt (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) is an honoree in both the 60- and 200-meter dash events. Senior DuVaun Goodlow (Plainfield, Ill./Central) and junior Cameron Magee (Richland Center, Wis./Ithaca) represent UW-Whitewater in the high jump, while senior Levi Perry (East Moline, Ill./United Township) and junior Theron Baumann (Monona Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) highlight the throws with honors in the shot put and weight throw, respetively.

Freshman Christian Jackson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa West) posted an all-region performance in the 60-meter hurdles, and freshman Zach Jasinski (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) earned the award in the pole vault.

On the women's side, seniors Meredith Porter (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) and Leah Richter (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) each tallied All-Region honors in two events. Individually, Porter received the award in the 400-meter dash, and Richter was recognized in the pole vault. Porter and Richter combined with junior Enyo Amet (Racine, Wis./Prairie) and freshman Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) for an All-Region nod in the 4x400-meter relay.

Senior Amanda Strupp (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) collected All-Region accolades in the weight throw. Junior Erika Sternard (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) and sophomore Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) recorded All-Region status in the high jump and 200-meter dash, respectively.

To earn All-Region honors, student-athletes must rank among the top five in their respective regions in individual events according to Track & Field Results Reporting System data or be a part of a top three relay team.
