Rachel Siemon makes UW-Whitewater women's tennis team

Rachel Siemon, a freshman history major from Crystal Lake, Ill., has made the 2013-14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team.

Last season, the team advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, and has started this year off strong with a current 6-0 record.

"We're looking to match last year's performance, and hopefully go beyond the Sweet Sixteen," said Frank Barnes, head coach. "With our motivated newcomers and returning top three players -- who are not far away from the national league -- anything is possible this season."

When the players are not on the field, they are giving back to the community. The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team participates in Reading with the Warhawks, a program where players read to elementary school children; Polar Plunge for Special Olympics; Make A Difference Day; and free tennis training camps for middle school students.
