Prospect Heights's Vainisi Part of Conference Championship at UW-Whitewater

Juliette Vainisi, a native of Prospect Heights, IL, and graduate of John Hersey High School, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team, which won the 2017-18 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season championship after completing the regular season with a 22-3 record, including a 12-2 mark in conference play.

The Warhawks will be the No. 1 seed in this week's WIAC Championship tournament and will begin postseason play Thursday in a semifinal against the lowest remaining seed at 7 p.m. at Kachel Gymnasium.

UW-Whitewater is currently ranked 14th in Division III by D3hoops.com and 17th by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The team is No. 1 in the Central Region in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings.

Vainisi, a junior at UW-Whitewater, is majoring in elementary education.
