2017 May 5

Michael Nompleggi, a native of Oconto Falls, WI, graduate of Oconto Falls High School and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team, was selected Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Nompleggi and Fleischman were named to the NCAA Division III District 6 First Team, which includes Division III institutions in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Both will be eligible to earn Academic All-America accolades later this month.

Nompleggi, one of two pitchers honored, currently carries a 3.36 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale and is majoring in elementary education, while Fleischman, one of four infielders designated All-District, has earned a 4.00 GPA majoring in biochemistry.

Both players have helped the Warhawks to a 26-6 record so far, including a 13-3 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The team heads into the weekend with a two-game lead in the WIAC standings as it opens up a four-game series at UW-Oshkosh Friday at 1 p.m.

Nompleggi enters the weekend with a 4-0 record, four saves and a 0.38 earned run average. The 2016 first team all-conference honoree is allowing opponents to bat only .174 in his league-leading 16 appearances.

Fleischman is batting .333 with 19 runs batted in and is tied for the league lead with five home runs. He was named first team All-WIAC last season.
