Nicole Thalacker Named September Intern of the Month

Nicole Thalacker, a public relations major from Janesville, Wis., was named Intern of the Month for September at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She interns with the Milwaukee Brewers as a consumer relations assistant.

"Thalacker constantly contributed new ideas during her internship," said Laura Jacobs, career consultant for Career and Leadership Development. "While she grew professionally throughout her internship experience, she also expanded the knowledge base of her internship site's marketing team by sharing her ideas and creativity."

Thalacker participates in community, campus and ballpark events as an ambassador of the Milwaukee Brewers. She promotes student nights at Miller Park, raises awareness of the Brewers on the UW-Whitewater campus and proposes new marketing promotions for the Brewers.

"Students need to put themselves out there because finding jobs in this economy is not always easy," said Thalacker. "Gaining experience will set you apart from other candidates and show that you're willing to work."

Thalacker went through an extensive interview process and secured her position six weeks after she applied. She plans to pursue a career in the sports industry after graduation.
