Nicholas Bee Attends NCAA Leadership Conference

2012 Nov 9

Nicholas Bee, a senior history education major at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, is helping to empower student-athletes to make a difference on campus.

Bee, from Elgin, Ill., was chosen to attend the prestigious NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Dallas in November.

The forum engages a diverse and dynamic group of student-athletes, coaches, faculty members and administrators. Attendees participate in customized sessions that enhance personal awareness and leadership skills needed to impact student-athlete development at the campus and conference level, as well as beyond the collegiate realm.

Bee, a men's track and field athlete, attended the forum with Warhawk gymnast and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president Katie Thompson.

"I commend them for committing to the process of learning what leadership means, for discovering and evaluating their individual values, developing practical skills and building relationships with all of those in attendance," said Amy Edmonds, associate director of athletics, compliance and student services at UW-Whitewater. "The best part is that they are so excited about what they have learned that they are going to share their experience with other student-athletes during their upcoming SAAC meeting."
