Neal Fagan named 2014-15 UW-Whitewater Global Ambassador

2015 Mar 26

Neal Fagan, a senior international business and German major from Lake Mills, Wis., has been named a 2014-15 global ambassador at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Global ambassadors are interns in the Center for Global Education who become part of a student leadership team that provides mentoring and programming to support new undergraduate international students' transition to academic and co-curricular life at UW-Whitewater.

"The program provides a great leadership and learning experience for the global ambassadors," said Candace Chenoweth, director of the Center for Global Education. "They learn about other countries and perspectives as well as about their own culture and their own perspectives."

In order to become a global ambassador, candidates must be current students at UW-Whitewater with good academic standing, must demonstrate evidence of programming skills and possess a strong desire to assist international students with their transition to the university.

"The global ambassadors love their jobs," Chenoweth said. "Everything they do is designed to assist their students with making friends and doing well in their classes, so the students will feel happy and successful at UW-Whitewater."
