Mitchell Wackett makes UW-Whitewater 2014 men's cross country team
2014 Oct 21
Mitchell Wackett, a freshman English major from Watertown, Wis., has made the 2014 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's cross country team.
The Warhawks gained several new runners this year, pushing the team to success as the season begins.
"We are a new team with some veterans and I think we have the potential to be very good," said Jeff Miller, the team's head coach. "The new players' potential, combined with a group of juniors who have shown improvement already this season, will be a great compliment to the veteran competitors."
When the student-athletes are not on the track, they are giving back to the community. The UW-Whitewater men's cross country team participates in campus events like Make A Difference Day and Reading with the Warhawks, along with providing assistance to the local high school cross country program.
The Warhawks will compete in the WIAC Championship tournament on Nov. 1 in La Crosse.
