Milwaukee's Morgan of UW-Whitewater Football Named to Honor Society

Michael Morgan, a native of Milwaukee, , and graduate of Wauwatosa West High School, is one of five members of the 2016 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team who were named to the 2017 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society by the NFF and the College Football Hall of Fame.

Tight end Brent Campbell (Rockford, IL/Winnebago), defensive lineman John Flood (Spring Grove, IL/Richmond-Burton Community), defensive back Mickey Morgan (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West), quarterback Chris Nelson (Twin Lakes/Wilmot Union) and linebacker Kyle Schiedemeyer (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) were rewarded for their athletic and academic success as new members of the honor society.

The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of student-athletes from all divisions of college football who maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average during their college careers. Members must have completed their final year of athletic eligibility and be of senior academic standing.

A record 1,089 student-athletes from 297 schools qualified for membership in the society's 11th year of existence.


All five honorees helped the Warhawks win the program's 35th Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title and reach the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship for the 11th time in the last 12 years.


Campbell carries a cumulative GPA of 3.23 and is majoring in occupational safety. He was named first team All-WIAC and second team D3football.com All-West Region after posting 16 receptions for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Flood was tabbed first team All-WIAC, second team all-region and first team Associated Press Little All-America after tallying 27 tackles, including 5.0 for a loss. The 2016 Gagliardi Trophy semifinalist carries a 3.75 GPA and is majoring in physics and mathematics.

Morgan is majoring in accounting with a minor in Spanish and has earned a 3.89 GPA so far. He finished the season with 29 tackles, including 24 solo stops, and a pair of interceptions.

Nelson completed 51-of-94 passes for 812 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for a pair of scores during the season. He maintains a 3.23 GPA and is majoring in general management.

Schiedemeyer registered 31 tackles, including 4.0 for a loss, and broke up two passes. The three-year starter is majoring in physical education with a minor in health promotion and owns a 3.21 cumulative GPA.
