2015 Jan 5

Justin Dischler, a physical education major and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team, was one of seven players on the team selected to the 2014 D3football.com All-America Teams, the Web site announced in late December prior to the start of the NCAA Division III national championship game.

Senior defensive back Brady Grayvold (Norway, MI/Norway), a first team pick by d3football.com, also garnered Associated Press Little All-America first team accolades, the AP announced earlier Friday.

Grayvold was joined on the first team by senior defensive lineman Zach Franz(DeForest/DeForest Area), senior wide receiver Jake Kumerow (Bartlett, IL/South Elgin) and junior offensive lineman Conner Peters (Springfield, IL/Sacred Heart Griffin).

Senior quarterback Matt Behrendt (Westchester, IL/Nazareth Academy) and junior linebacker Justin Dischler (Milwaukee/Pius XI) earned second team honors, while senior defensive backMarcus McLin (Delavan/Delavan-Darien) was named to the third team.

All seven players helped the Warhawks win Stagg Bowl XLII for the program's sixth NCAA Division III national championship in the last eight years. UW-Whitewater, which ended the 2014 season on a college football best 32-game winning streak, also won its 34th Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in 2014.

Also an All-America selection by the American Football Coaches Association, Grayvold led the Warhawks and the conference with eight interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns, and finished his career with eight career postseason interceptions. The first team All-WIAC selection also led the team with nine pass break-ups, and ranked fifth with 61 tackles.

Franz, also a first team all-conference and All-West Region honoree, had 35 tackles, including 11.0 for a loss and seven sacks. He led a defensive line that was integral in allowing just under 100 rushing yards per game, good for 17th in the nation.

Kumerow finished the season with 66 receptions for 1,116 yards and a team-best 14 touchdowns. The first team All-WIAC and all-region pick averaged over 100 receiving yards per game and became the school's all-time leader in career receiving touchdowns. Kumerow garnered honorable mention All-America in 2013.

Peters spearheaded an offensive line that protected for NCAA Division III's No. 19 scoring offense that averaged more than 40 points per affair. He was also a first team all-conference and all-region selection, and is the team's second straight All-America pick on the offensive line (Lucas Skibba, honorable mention in 2013).

A first team All-WIAC and all-region honoree, Behrendt ranked among the top 10 in the nation in passing yards (3,670), passing touchdowns (42), completion percentage (67.3) and passing efficiency (171.6). He is the program's career record holder in passing completions, touchdowns and consecutive attempts without an interception.

Dischler led the Warhawks with 93 tackles, including 7.0 for a loss, and forced six fumbles, good for 10th in the nation. The first team all-conference and all-region pick also had 2.5 sacks.

McLin is a three-time All-WIAC, two-time first team All-West Region and now a two-time third team All-America selection. He finshed with 42 tackles, including 36 solo stops, and recovered three fumbles.
