Milton Native Stair Named All-Conference in Golf at UW-Whitewater

2015 Oct 29

Stephanie Stair, a social work major and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater golf team, was selected second team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for the 2015 season, the league announced.

Stair, a junior and native of Milton, led the team during the fall with an average of 86.4 strokes per 18-hole round. She matched the Warhawks' top finish and tied for eighth out of 43 players to help lead the team to third place at the WIAC Championship.

Stair led UW-Whitewater at two other tournaments during the fall campaign. She tied for 34th out of 94 players at the Wartburg Fall Invitational (Sept. 12-13) and tied for ninth out of 98 participants at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational (Sept. 25-26), where she posted a season-low 80 in the first round.

A transfer from Ashford (Iowa) University, Stair owns four top 10 finishes over the last two years and a career low score of 78. She was a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member in 2014-15.

All-WIAC teams were determined by using the NCAA Division III GolfStat rankings immediately following the conclusion of the conference championship. A player must have completed eight rounds to be eligible for selection.
