Michael Riley named to UW-Whitewater Residence Hall Association executive board

Michael Riley, a sophomore journalism major from Greenfield, Wis., has been elected to the 2013-14 executive board of the Residence Hall Association (RHA), which oversees 13 residence halls on campus and two apartment buildings that house students.

"RHA is a great chance for students to have a voice in their residence halls," said Christina Aichele, the group's adviser. "These students are able to shape their own on-campus living experience, while improving the overall student living environment."

RHA's mission is to bring "leadership and programs to foster community and to provide social, cultural and intellectual development." The board also reviews and enforces housing policies.

In addition to the mission, RHA gives direction to Residence Life on specific issues by providing an overall representation of the UW-Whitewater student body.

"The skills that these students will take away from this experience are invaluable," said Terry Tumbarello, associate director of Residence Life. "A position like this will really help them get ahead of the game in the job world."
