Michael Riley appointed to UW-Whitewater Student Government Executive Board

Michael Riley from Greenfield, Wis., is helping to govern the more than 12,000 students who attend UW-Whitewater.

Riley, a sophomore journalism major, was recently appointed to the 2013-14 Whitewater Student Government (WSG) executive board as the public relations director.

"Many students don't realize the impact WSG has on this campus," said Jan Bilgen, WSG adviser. "This executive board works directly with the chancellor, helping to make decisions from menu options to building remodels, like the University Center."

WSG's role is to actively assess and serve the needs of UW-Whitewater students by providing an open forum atmosphere as well as being a bridge between students and campus administration.

"We are really looking for the best of the best. These board members hold themselves to higher expectations and want to represent the students of UW-Whitewater in a professional way," said Bilgen.
