Mequon's Talyansky Part of NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament Bid at UW-Whitewater

2017 May 1

Alexandra Talyansky, a native of Mequon, WI, and graduate of Mequon Homestead High School, is a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team, which clinched its 10th consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament Saturday by winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team Tournament for the 10th straight year at Premier Tennis and Fitness in Janesville.

The Warhawks (20-7 overall), who earned the No. 1 seed and hosting privileges for the tournament by claiming the WIAC championship in the fall, downed fourth-seeded UW-Oshkosh 5-0 in the semifinals before closing out their title run with a 5-0 triumph against No. 3 seed UW-La Crosse in the final. By rule, both matches were played to decision.

UW-Whitewater will learn its destination for the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament in a press release scheduled to be published on Monday, May 8, on NCAA.com.

The NCAA Tournament begins Friday, May 12.

Talyansky, a junior at UW-Whitewater, is majoring in English.
