Menomonee Falls Native Robinson of UW-Whitewater Garners Conference Honors

2015 Nov 6

Brittany Robinson, a native of Menomonee Falls, WI, and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater volleyball team, was one of three Warhawks named to one of the 2015 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, the league announced Thursday, Nov. 5.

Junior outside hitter Lauren Pfeifer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) and junior setter Staci Hasler (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) were selected first team All-WIAC. Hasler is a first time honoree, while Pfeifer is now a two-time selection.

Freshman defensive specialist Brittany Robinson (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) was named to the All-Defensive Team.

All three have helped the Warhawks to a 29-4 record (5-2 WIAC), a No. 11 national ranking and the top slot in the NCAA Midwest Regional rankings. UW-Whitewater, which owns seven victories over nationally ranked opponents this season, will make its 29th straight appearance in the WIAC Championship semifinals Friday against UW-La Crosse.

Pfeifer leads the conference in kills (405), kills per set (3.68) and points (4.25 per set) entering the weekend. She also ranks 14th in hitting percentage (.231) and is among team leaders in digs (296/2.62 per set), blocks (70/0.62 per set) and service aces (25).

Pfeifer was a two-time WIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week during the season, and garnered All-Tournament Team accolades at the Elmhurst (Ill.) Invitational (Sept. 4-5), the UW-Whitewater Invitational (Sept. 25-26) and the Dig Panici Classic (Oct. 23-24).

Hasler leads the league in service aces (44/0.44 per set) and is third in assists (1135) and fourth in assists per set (10.13). She also enters the weekend with 158 kills (1.41 per set), a .260 hitting percentage, 214 digs (1.91 per set) and 64 blocks (0.57 per set).

In her first year setting at the collegiate level, Hasler was selected to All-Tournament Teams at the Elmhurst Invitational, the Colorado College Invitational (Sept. 11-12), the UW-Whitewater Invitational and the Dig Panici Classic.

Robinson is third in the WIAC in digs (582/5.15 per set) and is fourth in service aces (40/0.35 per set). She garnered All-Tournament Team accolades at Colorado College and the UW-Oshkosh Invitational (Oct. 16-17).

Senior Stephanie Cherwin (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) is the Warhawks' representative on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Cherwin joined the team in mid-September to add depth at the outside hitter position following the loss of senior Jessica Sabey due to a season-ending injury.

UW-Whitewater, the No. 3 seed in the WIAC Tournament, plays second-seeded UW-La Crosse Friday at 5 p.m. at UW-Oshkosh. The winner of the contest moves on to face the winner of the UW-Oshkosh/UW-Stevens Point match on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Robinson is majoring in business.
