Menomonee Falls Native Jenna Woodson Named Academic All-District

2014 Oct 30

Jenna Woodson, a international business major and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday, Oct. 30.

Kelsey Beld, a defender, and Jenna Woodson, a midfielder, were the only players selected to the team from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The duo played a key role in helping the Warhawks secure their fifth consecutive WIAC regular season title. UW-Whitewater enters conference tournament play next week on a 14-match winning streak.

To be eligible for the honor, nominated student-athletes must be of sophomore academic standing, must have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's games and must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

A Madison Memorial High School graduate, Beld played in 15 matches and made nine during the regular season. The 2013 first team All-WIAC honoree posted two assists and attempted three shots, including one on goal.

Beld, who earned Academic All-District and third team Academic All-America accolades from CoSIDA in 2013, is majoring in accounting and carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA. She is involved on campus as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Woodson, a graduate of Menomonee Falls High School, is currently tied for the league lead with seven assists, and also has three goals for a total of 13 points, good for fourth on the team. A two-time all-conference honoree, Woodson was 2013 WIAC Offensive Player of the Year and a third team All-America pick by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

An international business major, Woodson owns a 3.83 cumulative GPA. She is an active member of TOMS Campus Club, Sigma Alpha Lambda and Golden Key International Honor Society on campus.

The Warhawks (17-2), ranked 12th in the latest NSCAA Division III Top 25, begin the conference tournament with the semifinals at home next Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. at Fiskum Field.

By virtue of their first team all-district selection, Beld and Woodson are now eligible to be Academic All-Americans. The announcement of those honorees will take place in late November.
