Maxwell Hawksford Makes Warhawk Men's Tennis Team

Maxwell Hawksford, a freshman undeclared major from Hudson, Wis., was named to the 2012-13 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team.

"This season we have assembled the most raw talent that we've seen in recent years. The schedule is by far the toughest, which will be a good test for us when nationals roll around. I am very excited to see how far these men can go," said Frank Barnes, men's tennis coach.

The team already competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Small College Championships in St. Peter, Minnesota, this fall. Byron Balkin and Mitch Osborne won the doubles championship. With the win, they have earned All-American honors and a trip to the ITA National Tournament.

The Warhawk men travel to Rockford, Illinois, on Jan. 25 to compete against Northern Illinois University. Their first home competition is the Warhawk Invite Feb. 15-16, 2013.
