Lysianne Peacock named to UW-Whitewater Residence Hall Association Executive Board

2015 Oct 23

Lysianne Peacock, a sophomore communication major from Gays Mills, Wis., has been elected to the executive board of the 2015-16 Residence Hall Association, which oversees 13 residence halls at UW-Whitewater and two apartment buildings that house students.

"RHA is composed of all students living in the residence halls. The organization aims to serve residents with learning services, leadership, and all dimensions of programming in order to create a responsible learning community," said Christina Aichele, assistant director for Learning Communities, Leadership and Inclusion.

The executive board comprises students with extensive experience in the residence halls.

"The president and vice president must have completed two academic semesters in the UW-Whitewater residence halls by the time they begin their first full semester in office; all other positions must have completed one academic semester in the residence halls by the time they begin their first full semester in office."

Beyond serving residents, the executive board is the official voice of the residents and, "it strives to create unity among members and to provide social, cultural, and intellectual development," Aichele said. "It formulates, reviews, recommends, and maintains University Housing policies and procedures; it acts as a liaison between administration and the residents."
