Lauren Corlett named Team Transfer Leader

2014 Oct 28

Lauren Corlett, a junior elementary education major from Cedarburg, Wis., has been named a leader of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Team Transfer program.

Team Transfer Leaders are UW-Whitewater transfer students who have worked and succeeded in the classroom, on campus and in the community. Each Team Transfer Leader serves as a resource to a group of 60 to 80 transfer students.

"They provide a friendly face for students to ask questions and learn about the campus," said Brianna Cooper, graduate assistant for mentor programs for First Year Experience. "Being a Team Transfer Leader is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role and help students who are transitioning to the UW-Whitewater campus."

Team Transfer Leaders facilitate a New Student Seminar class that helps transfer students become more accustomed to the campus and what it has to offer.

Each Team Transfer Leader goes through a group and individual interview process until 10 finalists are selected to participate in spring and fall training. They also participate in TRANSFERmation, a two-day orientation program designed for transfer students to meet new people and start out their experiences at UW-Whitewater with positive memories.
