Kurstin Mazzoni presents research at the State Capitol

2013 Apr 19

Kurstin Mazzoni, a junior social work major from South Milwaukee, Wis., joined nearly 150 other students from the University of Wisconsin System in presenting undergraduate research at the State Capitol in Madison on April 17.

The annual event, known as "Posters in the Rotunda," allows students and their faculty advisers to share their findings on a variety of important topics with legislators, state leaders, alumni, and other supporters.

Mazzoni's project is titled "Barriers Preventing Mexican Immigrants from Pursuing Higher Education."

"This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the exciting research going on throughout the state, and to support Wisconsin students and faculty members who contribute to the state's strong economic future," said UW System President Kevin Reilly. "We are delighted to showcase the innovative undergraduate research going on across the UW System and strengthen our commitment to making undergraduate research a top priority."

State leaders and others had the opportunity to view poster presentations depicting the research projects, speak with students, and learn more about how this work enriches their college experience.
