Kenosha's Brown Named All-Conference for UW-Whitewater Men's Basketball

Andre Brown, a native of Kenosha, WI, and graduate of Indian Trail Academy, was one of three members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team to be selected All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference based on their performances during the 2017-2018 season.

Junior guard Andre Brown (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) earned first team accolades, while junior forward Derek Rongstad (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) and junior guard David Sachs (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) earned honorable mention. Rongstad was also named to the WIAC All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive season.

All three players helped the Warhawks to an overall record of 16-10. UW-Whitewater reached the first round of the WIAC Championship tournament.

Brown led the team and is sixth in the league at 15.2 points per contest, including 16.5 in WIAC games only, good for second. He is among the top 10 in the league for field goal percentage (49.0). He is also among the top seven in the conference for assists (2.52 per game) and steals (1.48 per game).

Rongstad, now a two-time honorable mention all-conference selection, sank 39 three-pointers over the season and the No. 12 spot in the league for 3-point percentage (39.8) and averaged nearly 33 minutes per contest. He ranks sixth in the league for rebounding (6.1) and is among the top 15 in the league for assists in league games only (2.00). Rongstad was named WIAC Player of the Week for Dec. 18-31.

Sachs is second in the league for assists (94) and is seventh in the league for free throw percentage (79.2). He is among the top 20 in the league for scoring at 11.3 points per contest and top 15 in the league for field goal percentage in conference games only (48.0).

Sophomore center Noah Kaminski (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) represented the Warhawks on the conference's All-Sportsmanship Team.
