Kenneth Ryan staged production of "Toil and Trouble" at UW-Whitewater

2017 Oct 23

Kenneth Ryan from Horicon, Wis., is among the students from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Theatre/Dance who staged production of "Toil and Trouble" at the Hicklin Studio Theatre, Oct. 9-15.

"Toil and Trouble" is a comic rewrite of Shakespeare's "Macbeth," written by award-winning playwright Lauren Gunderson. Taking over a South American island populated with miniature vicuna, three friends attempt to sell their prized wool while competing for power and control. It's a clever, cheeky romp that takes audiences on a journey through capitalism, unemployment and murder, while capturing the human need for power.

Ryan, who is studying theatre at UW-Whitewater, served as assistant stage manager in "Toil and Trouble."

The Department of Theatre/Dance is committed to bringing forth high quality, entertaining productions demonstrating the skills of theatre majors, and a medley of other students. Students gain real-world experience - costumes, sets and lights are often student creations, giving them the opportunities to own their developmental processes.
