Kelsey Beld, a Madison native and member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, named WIAC Judy Kruckman Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Kelsey Beld, a Madison native and a senior defender for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team, has earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Judy Kruckman Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

Beld is the second consecutive Warhawk to receive the award and third in the history of the program.

The accounting major maintains a 4.00 grade point average. She was named Third Team CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America a year ago and earned Academic All-District honors earlier this season. Beld is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, has been listed on the Dean's List and university's Honor Roll every semester.

On the field, Beld earned First Team All-WIAC honors last season and was named UW-Whitewater's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team this season. A captain the last two years, she has helped lead the Warhawks to four WIAC regular season and two tournament championships. Beld was selected as the team's defensive MVP in 2011 and 2012.

Off the field, Beld is a member of UW-Whitewater's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Golden Key National Honor Society, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Eta Sigma. She has continued to serve as a supplemental instructor and tutor during her time at UW-Whitewater.

Beld shared the 2014 award with UW-La Crosse's Kelly Denk.

The Warhawks received an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament this season and will head to St. Louis for regional action. UW-Whitewater will face Centre (Ky.) Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on the campus of Washington University-St. Louis.
