Kelly Lofy Named Member of UW-Whitewater Hawk Squad
2012 Nov 2
With more than 2,400 new students on campus this fall, the First Year Experience office knows how important it is to make a great first impression. That's where the Hawk Squad comes in.
Nine upperclassmen, including Kelly Lofy, a senior elementary education major from Lake Geneva, Wis., are on this year's squad. Their responsibilities include staffing events like Plan-It Purple, Club U-Dub-Dub and Family Fest and producing a podcast video series "FYE4U."
"These students are really the face of UW-Whitewater for incoming freshmen, transfer students and their parents. They have the important job of making a first impression, and showing new students what it means to be a Warhawk," said Adrianna Guram, director of First Year Experience and Learning Communities.
In order to qualify for the Hawk Squad, students must have a GPA of 2.8, good oral communication skills and demonstrated involvement and leadership at UW-Whitewater.
"They are an incredibly resourceful group of students that knows how to balance both academic work and school activities," said Guram.
