Katelyn Wurtz named November Intern of the Month

2012 Dec 4

Katelyn Wurtz, a special education major from Woodstock, Ill., has been named Intern of the Month for November at UW-Whitewater. Wurtz works with SEAL, the Student Entertainment Awareness League, as a management intern.

"Wurtz is passionate about students' college experiences," said Laura Jacobs, career consultant for Career and Leadership Development. "Through her work in her internship, Wurtz has consistently shown that she is an advocate for students and a leader on the UW-Whitewater campus."

As a management intern, Wurtz oversees the day-to-day operations of SEAL and is responsible for collaborating with student organizations on campus.

"Through this internship, I have gained many leadership skills as well as skills that I can apply to the real world after college," said Wurtz. "Overall, an internship can be a huge step toward your future career."

Wurtz went through an application and interviewing process before being selected and enrolled for summer training. Before serving as a management intern, she was a community service intern who coordinated the America Reads program on campus. America Reads is a program in which UW-Whitewater students volunteer in local schools.
