Katelin Sandy named to UW-Whitewater Percussion Ensemble

2017 Feb 8

Katelin Sandy from Kennesaw, Ga., who is studying music at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has been selected to be a member of the Percussion Ensemble.

This unique and diverse group performs one concert each semester and is primarily made up of percussion majors and minors, but is available to any student who wishes to be a part of the ensemble.

"Students learn extended techniques on various percussion instruments, small group (chamber) performance skills and exposure to a wide variety of instruments and repertoire available to percussionists," said Tobie Wilkinson, lecturer of music and director of the ensemble. "The percussion ensemble is able to perform a wide variety of music genres. Additionally, it's a very visually stimulating ensemble as you can 'see' everything performers are doing to create various sounds."

The group has an upcoming performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Light Recital hall in the Greenhill Center of the Arts.
