Kane Poad named member of SUFAC at UW-Whitewater

2017 Apr 18

Kane Poad from Mineral Point, Wis., who is majoring in integrated science and business, was selected to serve on the Segregated University Fee Allocation Committee at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

This committee is tasked with deciding how the segregated university fees should be distributed to different organizations and groups on campus. There are a total of nine members on the committee, one from each college, one grad student, one member from the Residence Hall Association, two from the Whitewater Student Government, and one Whitewater Student Government President appointment. Each year, SUFAC hears more than 80 organizations or student groups propose a budget amount for the next year. In 2016-17, the committee distributed more than $1.2 million.

"SUFAC gives students a voice in governing themselves. Giving students the authority to make important decisions regarding how their own money is distributed is really powerful," said Kane Poad, SUFAC chairperson. "It shows that student input matters."
